MEET JIM MOONEY
Jim served on countless boards and organizations including, Take Stock in Children, Florida Keys Electric Co-Op, Islamorada Chamber of Commerce, Florida Keys MLS, Florida Keys Board of Realtors, President Women Council of Realtors Fl Keys Chapter, and Upper Keys Foundation.
On September 10, 2017, Jim was faced with one of his biggest leadership challenges, as The Keys braced for Hurricane Irma. As mayor of Islamorada Village he would be tasked with overseeing rescue operations in the immediate aftermath of the storm, interacting with both State and Federal governments, and rebuilding in the months to follow.
As a conservative and small business owner, Jim understands the importance of being a careful steward of our tax dollars, and the need for the government to act within its means. Likewise, his passion for the outdoors drives him to preserve our District's unique environment, both for the economy of our area and the responsibility we have, to protect it for future generations.
That’s why in Jim’s first term in the Florida House he:
- Supported Governor Desantis’ push to keep Florida open and our economy growing
- Passed two conservative balanced budgets
- Championed legislation protecting water quality and our environment
- Continued the fight against illegal immigration
- Cut taxes
- Stood up for Law Enforcement, ensuring they had the support to keep our neighborhoods safe
Even only two years in office, Jim has been recognized for his conservative leadership by the Florida Chamber of Commerce, Florida Tax Watch, and was given a A+ rating from the conservative group Americans for Prosperity. Jim will always stand up for the values and issues important to our unique part of Florida.
